ALL THE ACTION EARLY-ON AS TOTTON AND BRACKNELL DRAW IN BERKSHIRE
BRACKNELL TOWN AND AFC TOTTON engaged in a crazy opening 10 minutes on their way to a one-all draw at Bottom Meadow.
Charlie Austin thought he should have had a penalty after just 20 seconds. He danced between two defenders and appeared to be tripped, only for the referee to wave play-on. But just two minutes later, the ex-Saints striker found space on the left and clipped a measured cross into the middle for Ethan TAYLOR to head home his second goal of the campaign.
The Robins weren’t behind for long, though. A high cross from their right flank was knocked down on the far side by new signing Sam Ashton and Joel ROLLINSON stole in behind the last defender to side foot the home side back on level terms with just six minutes on the clock.
Anthony Cheshire was booked for a late foul on Austin, as the game threatened to boil over, then the perpetrator became the victim when a stray elbow caught the Bracknell full-back in the face and earned Taylor a yellow card of his own.
Luke Hallett had to clear off the line for The Stags, when Bracknell came close to snatching the lead shortly before half-time.
The second half’s entertainment didn’t live up to the first, but Robins ‘keeper and captain Michael Eacott was called upon to tip over substitute Marcus Daws’ effort from the edge of the box, and also saved well with his legs to deny Tony Lee from a central position.
