LAST-GASP DEFENSIVE ERROR HANDS WALTON THE WIN

DAWID ROGALSKI’S LAST-GASP WINNER saw Walton & Hersham take the points from a five-goal thriller with AFC Totton at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub in Surrey.

The home side shaded the first half. Debutant Ralph Vigrass headed against the crossbar from a corner and Rogalski forced a fine save from Totton goalkeeper Ryan Gosney to parry a shot from his top-left corner.

Jimmy Ball’s Stags had more reason to be grateful for the half-time stalemate, but they came flying out of the blocks in the second period, Tony LEE putting them ahead with a close-range finish from Tom Blair’s left-wing cross.

Former Bracknell forward Nana Owusu was introduced from the bench and made an immediate impact for The Swans, dribbling to the left-wing byline to hang a cross that Ralph VIGRASS headed home at the back post. And Walton & Hersham deservedly went ahead with five minutes to go when a clever reverse pass by Alex Body enabled Dawid ROGALSKI to fire home from the inside-right channel.

Walton & Hersham sat back to protect their lead and appeared to pay the price when substitute Scott RENDELL headed Totton level from a corner, two minutes beyond the 90.

But there was still time for Walton to win it. A defensive error handed Dawid ROGALSKI possession on the edge of Totton’s box and the striker kept his cool despite the bodies throwing themselves in his path to pick his spot in the bottom-left corner.
