THE MAIN MAN: AFC Totton's Mr. Reliable Charlie Kennedy receives the Manager's Player of the Year Award from Jimmy Ball.
VERSATILITY WAS A KEY WATCH WORD for AFC Totton this season, especially in light of the horrendous luck with injuries that befell club captain Mike Carter just 20 minutes into the 2023/24 season.
Among the players required to do most to fill the gap left by the skipper was his former Gosport Borough teammate Charlie Kennedy, whose willingness to play in defence or midfield and perform consistently well in either role gave Jimmy Ball valuable options throughout the course of a rigorous and demanding 62-game campaign, earning Kennedy the nod as the Manager’s Player of the Year 2023/24.
One of several experienced, influential players in the dressing room, Charlie regularly takes the captain’s armband and had the distinction of scoring Totton’s first goal of the season to kickstart the astonishing late comeback win at Harrow Borough on the opening day.
Ahead of the SDFA Southampton Senior Cup Final, Charlie has made 48 starts and four substitute appearances for The Stags this season, scoring two goals. He joined the club from Salisbury in the summer of 2022.
