FIXTURES FOR THE IMMINENT 2024/25 season have been published by the Southern League, presenting AFC Totton with a tough opening month to the campaign.
Runners-Up in the same division last term, The Stags will kick-off the new season on Saturday 10 August with a home match against Walton & Hersham, who finished seventh in 2023/24.

Jimmy Ball’s team will then face back-to-back away visits to two of their fiercest rivals. On Tuesday 13 August, they will cross the Itchen Bridge to take on Paul Doswell’s Sholing, going on to face Poole Town at the Tatnam Ground the following Saturday.
Hungerford Town was the only team to beat AFC Totton both home and away last season. The Crusaders will visit the Snows Stadium on Saturday 24 August, before The Stags will be on the road on the Bank Holiday Monday of 26 August to take on the recently-relegated Havant & Waterlooville at Westleigh Park.
The Hawks will also provide the opposition when they visit Totton on New Year’s Day, by which time The Stags will already have spent Boxing Day at Winchester City. The Citizens are scheduled to be Totton’s opponents for their final home game of the season on Monday 21 April, before a trip to Somerset to take on newly-promoted Frome Town on the final day of the campaign.
This season’s FA Cup First Round Qualifying ties will take place on Saturday 31 August. The Stags entered the Isuzu FA Trophy at the Third Round Qualifying stage last season, which is scheduled on Saturday 05 October this time around.

AFC Totton boss Jimmy Ball gave his reaction to the publication of the new season’s fixtures:
“The opening month of the season might look tricky but there are no easy games in this league – every game brings different challenges and different kinds of problems that we will have to solve. You have to play everyone twice, so it doesn’t really matter what order the games come up.
“Having said that, there are quite a lot of local – or localish – games this season, which adds that extra bit of interest for the fans. We have signed several players from Havant & Waterlooville over the last couple of years – Mike Carter, Sam Magri and Joe Oastler all played for them – so that should be a good battle between two very good sides. Our matches against Sholing are always great games, and we know what strong opponents Hungerford are, so there is a lot to get excited about.
“I really can’t wait for the new season to get started, so we can get into the swing of things. Pre-season is always quite bitty, stop-start; it’s hard work for the players – you’re just hoping to get through it and to come out by the opening day of the season with everybody injury-free and where they need to be fitness-wise.”
