IT’S TROPHY TIME for The Stags once again, as Jimmy Ball’s men face a trip up to Bedfordshire in a bid to make club history by progressing into the Fourth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy for the first time.

On Tuesday night, Totton cruised to a comfortable home win over Chertsey Town, winning 3-0 without allowing Chertsey to have a shot. Scott Rendell (pictured below) scored twice on his return to the starting XI after recent injury, and a late third from Charlie Austin sealed the deal.

BIGGLESWADE TOWN – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:

Despite winning promotion last season as Division One Champions, The Waders have had a difficult time of it in 2024/25 and currently sit bottom of the Southern League Premier Division Central table with just 10 points from 18 games, leaving them 10 points from safety.

They were winless throughout their opening six games of the season, drawing four and losing two, until they beat Harleston Town in a replay in First Round Qualifying for the Emirates FA Cup.

Another league defeat and a draw followed, before they kept their FA Cup run going by beating Bowers & Pitsea of the Isthmian League Premier Division. That win was followed by another league defeat, but Biggleswade Town finally notched their first league win of the campaign at Bishop’s Stortford on 24 September.

In Third Round Qualifying for the Isuzu FA Trophy, The Waders triumphed by a single goal at Marlow. But they then went another four games without a win – three in the league and their exit from the FA Cup via a 0-6 home thumping at the hands of National League North side, Alfreton Town. Their FA Trophy run continued, though, with a 2-0 home win over Potters Bar Town in the First Round (Proper).

Two draws in the league followed that Trophy win, then came a crazy game. Despite being 0-3 down at half-time in their FA Trophy Second Round tie at Coleshill Town, The Waders scored five goals in the second half to win 5-4 and book their place in the Third Round.

Since that remarkable win, Biggleswade Town have gone winless in their last four outings; three consecutive defeats before holding their hosts Lowestoft Town to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday night.

Biggleswade Town Football Club is not to be confused with Biggleswade FC, who play in the Southern League Division One Central, or Biggleswade United of the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:
The two sides met each other in the league in the 2013/14 season, during what was a difficult period for AFC Totton. The Waders won the first meeting 5-1 on 30 November 2013, despite being the away side. In the return match on 01 April 2014, 17-year-old Zac Mouland put The Stags ahead after just 12 minutes but the hosts equalised before the break and that was how it remained.
