THE VENUE:
Alfred Davis Memorial Ground, Oak Tree Road, Marlow, Buckinghamshire SL7 3ED
AFC TOTTON WILL LOOK TO CARRY THEIR MOMENTUM on the road as they head for Marlow in the Southern League Premier Division South on Saturday (02 November 2024).
Last time out, Totton beat Dorchester Town 1-0 on home soil, to book their place in the Second Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy, thanks to Tony Lee’s headed winner. That was despite both teams going down to 10-men and having to endure nine minutes of injury time — The Stags held their nerve to beat The Magpies, and avenge their only league defeat of the season so far.
MARLOW — THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
It’s been a season of struggle for The Blues so far, sitting dead last in the table with just six points from 13 games. Marlow started the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Winchester City, but then went on to lose their next four consecutive league games, only scoring once in that batch of fixtures.
They lost big in the Emirates FA Cup First Qualifying Round at Dartford, losing 2-6. Returning to league action, they lost at home to Gloucester City, but then managed to gain a point at home to Bracknell Town. But two huge away losses followed, going down 2-5 at Taunton Town and 1-5 at Havant & Waterlooville.
There was no respite in the Isuzu FA Trophy, either; their involvement was terminated at the Third Round Qualifying stage by Biggleswade Town of the Southern League Premier Division Central, before picking up their third point of the season with a 2-2 draw at home to Dorchester Town. But, as before, Marlow then suffered back-to back defeats with a 0-5 loss at home to Chertsey Town and a 1-2 defeat at Merthyr Town’s Penydarren Park.
Finally, after 14 games in all competitions and over two months since the 2024/25 campaign started, Marlow won a football match. After grafting hard, they beat Gosport Borough at Privett Park by a single goal, ending their winless streak just in time for The Stags’ visit to the Alfred Davis Memorial Ground on Saturday.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:
There have been three previous meetings between the two sides. They played each other in the Southern League Division One South & West in the 2015/16 season, when Steve Hollick was Totton's manager, with the first encounter taking place at the Testwood Stadium. Totton went into the game on the back a three-match winning streak but Marlow twice came from behind to force a 2-2 draw, with their Adam Richards scoring their second leveller in stoppage-time. Marlow won the return match in Buckinghamshire by a score of 2-1.
The only other meeting we have on record between the two clubs comes from more than 40 years ago, when they met in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup in 1982/83 with Totton progressing thanks to a single goal victory.
