THE STAGS ARE ON THE ROAD AGAIN for another away day, this time heading to Somerset to take on The Peacocks – Taunton Town.
Last time out, Totton produced a brilliant all-round performance to beat Marlow 6-1. Tony Lee opened the scoring before Scott Rendell and Ethan Taylor helped themselves to two goals each, and substitute Ben Seymour notched his first goal for the club.
TAUNTON TOWN – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
The Peacocks are currently sitting in seventh place in the Southern League Premier Division South table with 43 points from 29 games played.
They began the season winless in their opening four games, drawing two and losing two until they beat Frome Town away to register their first win. They then went undefeated for nine games, winning six and drawing three, which included three victories in the Emirates FA Cup before Maidenhead United eventually knocked them out via a replay at the Fourth Round Qualifying stage.
After a 2-0 away win at Basingstoke Town, Taunton suffered back-to-back defeats in Hampshire, losing 1-5 at the Snows Stadium and being knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy by the same score at Gosport Borough.
November and December saw a mixed bag of results, with good wins against Walton & Hersham and Hungerford Town, but also losses to Wimborne Town and Chertsey Town, leaving Taunton in midtable.
In 2025, The Peacocks have only tasted defeat once, away at league leaders Merthyr Town. In their other games, Taunton drew four times and won three, and this has pushed them up the table into seventh place with a good chance of making the Promotion Play-Offs if that impressive form continues.

IN THE REVERSE FIXTURE…
AFC Totton produced arguably their best display of the season to thrash Taunton Town 5-1 in their Southern League Premier Division South encounter amid the evening fog of the Snows Stadium on Tuesday 22 October 2024. Goals from Tony Lee, two from Ethan Taylor – the first a stunning volley; his second pictured above – a Sam Magri header, and a cameo strike from substitute Ash Clarke packed The Peacocks back off to Somerset with their tails tucked firmly between their legs, and lifted The Stags up to second place in the table.
