AFC TOTTON FACE A TOUGH away trip this weekend as they head to Dorset to face in-form Wimborne Town.

Last time out, at The Stags shared the points in their top-of-the-table clash with Merthyr Town following a one-all draw at the Snows Stadium.

WIMBORNE TOWN – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
The Magpies are currently 11th in the Southern League Premier Division South table, with 41 points from 32 games. They began the season with two good wins but then came three consecutive defeats. In First Round Qualifying for the Emirates FA Cup, Wimborne beat Tiverton Town, and they carried that form into their next league game to beat Hungerford Town. But after receiving a 0-4 thrashing from AFC Totton at the Snows Stadium, Wimborne were then knocked out of the FA Cup by Weston-super-Mare.

The Magpies won two games in a row before another heavy defeat, this time conceding half-a-dozen to Merthyr Town without response. An exit from the Isuzu FA Trophy at the Third Round Qualifying stage followed, courtesy of Gloucester City, but Wimborne bounced back with a win and a draw from their next two league outings.

Struggles started to show in their next seven games as they lost five, winning only once and drawing the other. After this, they went four undefeated – with two wins and two draws – before losing back-to-back games during a five-match winless streak, as inconsistency continued to define their season. However, Wimborne Town come into this game unbeaten in their last five, a sequence that began with a creditable home draw against title-chasing Merthyr.

STRIKER: AFC Totton's Tony Lee takes aim at Wimborne's goal during the Southern League Premier Division South meeting between the two sides at the Snows Stadium in September 2024.

IN THE REVERSE FIXTURE…
Under the lights at the Snows Stadium, AFC Totton put on a perfect display, beating Wimborne Town 4-0. Tony LEE broke the deadlock for Totton after a deep cross found Scott Rendell, and he laid the ball off to Declan Rose at the right-wing byline. Rose’s short pass infield picked out Lee, whose first attempt rebounded back to him for a second bite of the cherry and he smashed it home at the near post. Just five minutes later, Charlie AUSTIN doubled the home side’s lead after a beautiful Rose pass carved open The Magpies and the striker rounded the ‘keeper to score his second goal in as many games. 13 minutes into the second half, Tom BLAIR cut inside onto his right foot and from about 25-yards out, fired a rocket towards the top corner that flew in off the underside of the crossbar. In the 66th minute Charlie Philpot, attempting to spray the ball out wide, miskicked and it went straight to Tony LEE, who delicately chipped the ball over the Wimborne ‘keeper for Totton’s fourth goal of the night.
