AFTER A LONG BREAK since their last fixture, AFC Totton return to action at the Snows Stadium on Saturday when they welcome Merthyr Town in Third Round Qualifying for the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Last time out, The Stags drew 1-1 at Bracknell Town in the Southern League Premier Division South. Ethan Taylor scored early-on but The Robins quickly replied, and Jimmy Ball’s men couldn’t capitalise on the several chances they created throughout the remainder of the match to take all three points.

MERTHYR TOWN’S SEASON SO FAR:
Merthyr currently sit on top of the Southern League Premier Division South with 22 points from their opening 10 matches. After missing out on the Promotion Play-Offs last season by just one point, The Martyrs have begun to put that right in 2024/25.

In their first game of the new season, the Penydarren Park club won 6-0 at home to Tiverton Town, and followed that up with a 2-0 away win at Frome Town. Their first defeat of the season came against fellow high-fliers Walton & Hersham, with The Martyrs going down 2-5. They bounced back to beat Hanwell Town 2-1 but lost their next game at Gloucester City by the same scoreline.

A victory over Southern League Division One South outfit Cribbs in Emirates FA Cup First Round Qualifying followed, and their good form continued into the league when they beat Sholing 3-0 and Swindon Supermarine 5-1. Bath City ended their involvement in the FA Cup but they extended their unbeaten league run to five matches with a goalless draw at home to Gosport Borough, a 3-1 home win over Winchester City and an emphatic 6-0 thrashing of Wimborne Town, which was also at Penydarren Park.
