A MIDWEEK MISSION as The Stags make the long journey to Plymouth Parkway for an evening at Bolitho Park.

Totton picked up all three points on Saturday, beating Hanwell Town 2-0 at the Snows Stadium. Goals from Charlie Austin and Ash Clarke sealed the win for the Blues on home soil.

PLYMOUTH PARKWAY – SEASON SO FAR:

Parkway have had a torrid season so far, which leaves them sitting deep in the relegation zone, having yet to win a league game from nine attempts.

Back-to-back defeats at home to Basingstoke Town (1-3) and away to Gloucester City (2-3) got the campaign off to an unwelcome start, but a creditable draw at Havant & Waterlooville suggested that better might be yet to come, before a 0-3 home defeat to Winchester City put paid to the idea.

A goalless draw at Tiverton Town on the August Bank Holiday Monday doubled Parkway’s points total for the season, before a 4-1 home win over Wessex League Premier Division outfit Baffins Milton Rovers provided some respite and progress in the Emirates FA Cup.

Upon Parkway’s return to league action, high-flying Walton & Hersham triumphed 2-1 at Bolitho Park, where Taunton Town shared the points in a four-goal thriller three days later on the evening of Tuesday 10 September.

A 4-3 home victory at the Second Round Qualifying stage ended the interest of Stagslayers Westbury United in the Emirates FA Cup for this season, but any hopes that cup form might be carried over into the league were dashed when Plymouth suffered a humiliating 3-9 defeat at the hands of Hungerford Town.

Poole Town piled on the misery with a 1-3 defeat at the Tatnam Ground, before Plymouth’s first back-to-back wins of the season saw them progress in both the FA Cup and the Isuzu FA Trophy at the expense of Sittingbourne and Banbury United, respectively.

Cup distractions mean that Plymouth retain a game in-hand over the four teams around them at the foot of the Southern League Premier Division South table, but a 0-4 home defeat to National League South side Worthing at the weekend ended their FA Cup run at the Fourth Round Qualifying stage.

HEAD-TO-HEAD:
Of the five matches between the two sides dating back to August 2021, AFC Totton have picked up four wins over Parkway, with Plymouth winning just once in November 2021, on their way to securing the 2021/22 Southern League Division One South title. The last meeting at Bolitho Park came in April of this year, with The Stags running out comfortable 3-0 winners in another midweek encounter after their Promotion Play-Off place had already been secured.
