THE STAGS MAKE THE TRIP to West London this weekend to take on Hanwell Town.
Last time out, AFC Totton comfortably beat Bracknell Town 2-0 with an early goal from Scott Rendell and a Roddy Collins strike midway through the second half.
HANWELL TOWN – THEIR SEASON SO FAR:
Hanwell started the season with a loss at Wimborne Town but back-to-back home wins followed against Bracknell Town and Swindon Supermarine. They then faced current league leaders Merthyr Town away, losing 1-2, before bouncing back just two days later with a 2-0 home win over Marlow.
In First Round Qualifying for the Emirates FA Cup, Hanwell drew at Sheppey United of the Isthmian League South East Division before thrashing The Ites 6-0 in the replay at Reynolds Field. However, The Geordies – so-called because the club was formed by contractors from Newcastle working in the Hanwell area – then went winless in their next five games, with draws against Taunton Town, Walton & Hersham and Gloucester City coming amid elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Chertsey Town and a home defeat to Sholing.
A penalty shoot-out victory over Berkhamsted, after a one-all draw, saw Hanwell progress into the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy, but their league form continued to be patchy, with defeats to AFC Totton, Basingstoke Town and Havant & Waterlooville being punctuated by one a win against Dorchester Town. But, a 5-0 thumping of Hendon in the FA Trophy triggered a run of five league games without defeat that was eventually ended by Frome Town, before Eastleigh knocked them out of the FA Trophy at the Third Round stage.
Two draws and four defeats in December may have put a dampener on Hanwell’s festive celebrations, but they recovered well to go unbeaten from New Year’s Day to 22 February during which they won three times, drew four and progress to the semi-final of the Middlesex County Cup.
After a defeat to Hungerford Town, Hanwell were involved in two 3-3 draws -- against Poole Town and Walton & Hersham – and then completed a league double over Dorchester Town with a 3-0 win. However, their last two matches in the league have seen defeats to Frome and Gloucester, and they also lost to Rayners Lane in the final of the Middlesex County Cup.

Charlie Austin pounces to give AFC Totton the lead during the Southern League Premier Division South encoutner with Hanwell Town at the Snows Stadium in October.
IN THE REVERSE FIXTURE…
AFC Totton continued their fine form at the Snows Stadium with a comfortable 2-0 win over Hanwell Town with goals from Charlie Austin and Ashley Clarke. The Stags broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Luke Bennett’s fantastic ball to the back-post was met by Charlie AUSTIN who opened the scoring in excellent fashion. Hanwell began the second-half with high energy, looking to find a way back into the game but the hosts doubled their lead on the counter-attack when Ashley CLARKE collected a loose ball, ran three-quarters the length of the pitch and fired into the bottom-left corner to seal the win.
