PRIDE IN THE SHIRT is a FREE football and arts project for the LGBTQIA+ community in Hampshire.
Starting on Monday 31 March, it takes place for 9 weeks every Monday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at AFC Totton's Snows Stadium on Salisbury Road, Totton.
Qualified coaches and creatives from the LGBTQIA+ community will lead sessions that will cover:
- Football & Sports Games
- Theatre & Writing
- Art & Design
- Music & Songwriting
Led by Ri Baroche with support from Hampshire FA, Culture in Common, Totton AFC in the Community and Southampton Pride, the project will be staffed by LGBTQIA+ sports coaches and arts practitioners, and will support the young people to be active through sport, and to give a creative voice to their thoughts and feelings on the state of sport inclusivity and how things can change for the better.
As part of the project, you will help to create the project's team kit and zine, telling the story of your connection to sport, a new LGBTQIA+ football song/chant and have the work displayed at John Hansard Gallery in Southampton across Pride Month.
Thanks to funding supporters, the project will train a young LGBTQIA+ sports coach, and will support a young LGBTQIA+ person to shadow the project and develop their facilitation and creative skills.
