AFC Totton
AFC Totton today honoured those who lost their lives and fought in the line of duty during World War 1 from 1914 – 1918, World War 2 from 1939 – 1945 and in the line of duty in many conflicts since right up until today. The club commemorated this day by laying a wreath upon our pitch in their memory.
Our club groundsman, Gareth Abernethy decided to honour the fallen with a pitch design in the shape of a poppy, in which a wreath was laid upon it in remembrance.
In attendance at the club was our Chairman Wayne Mew, Vice Chairman Dave Penny, Financial Director Steve Brookwell, our groundsman Gareth Abernethy, catering manager Jonny Gettings as well as members of the public who chose to attend.
Our club ground had been decorated in poppies, along with the flag of the Royal British Legion waving on our club flagpole. A music recording from the service at The Cenotaph in London played, which was then followed by the last post and a two minute silence.
