EX-AFC WIMBLEDON PLAYER ALFIE EGAN has signed on the dotted line to become part of Jimmy Ball’s football revolution at the Snows Stadium.
The 26-year-old Lambeth-born midfielder began his youth career with The Dons in 2016. His first team debut came in an October 2016 EFL Trophy tie against Plymouth Argyle, five days before making his league debut as substitute in a 3-1 win over Oxford United. He went on to make 21 league appearances for AFC Wimbledon, scoring once, amid loan spells with Sutton United, East Thurrock and Kingstonian.
He was released in July 2019 and, after a successful trial, signed for Ebbsfleet United where he remained until 2022, making 61 appearances and scoring six goals. During his time with The Fleet, he also spent three months on loan at Maidenhead United for whom he made 10 appearances.
After leaving Ebbsfleet United in the summer of 2022, a short, unsuccessful stint at Boreham Wood followed before Egan switched to Dorking Wanderers in September 2022, where he remained until the end of last season.
Egan began 2023/24 with Lewes in the Isthmian League Premier Division. He was team captain at The Dripping Pan and played in all of their first six games of the campaign. But he left the club by mutual consent after a disagreement with the manager and, after receiving interest from multiple clubs, he arrived at the Snows Stadium earlier this month, hoping to earn a place in Jimmy Ball’s midfield. And he made a promising start to life as a Stag, starting and playing his part in the 2-0 win at Beaconsfield Town on Saturday 25 November.
