AFC Totton left it late to rescue a 2-2 draw their friendly against Sutton United at the
Snows Stadium.
It was a physical battle for The Stags with challenges flying in from all over the pitch,
and also a chance for the players to gain minutes in the tank.
Sutton dictated the play early on in the first half and earnt the lead in the 9 th minute
when Charlie Carter slotted the ball in the bottom left corner.
However, the tables completely turned when Sutton defender Besart Toppolaj left a
wild challenge on a Totton player.
Taking advantage of the sending off the home side equalised in the 32nd minute as
Christie Ward pounced on a poor back pass and slotted it home.
The first half was then concluded early as Sutton defender Moore-Taylor was
stretchered off after landing awkwardly.
Totton were on the backfoot in the second half despite having an extra man on the
field, the introduction of Sam Folarin from the away side proved to cause problems.
Sutton went ahead again in the 60 th minute as they worked the ball into the box for
Folarin to smash the ball into the top left corner.
The game seemed to quieten down after the away side took the lead, whilst there
were many physical battles on the pitch.
Totton grabbed a late equaliser in the 90 th minute as a trialist headed the ball past
Chris Haigh with the last play of the game.
The total attendance at the Snows Stadium was 409, and The Stags will now look
forward to their friendly on Tuesday against Moneyfields.
